Studio Howlett Named Top 10 Finalist for Kitchen of the Year

We’re pleased to share that Studio Howlett has been named a Top 10 Finalist in this year’s Kitchen of the Year awards × Cabinet Joint. The recognition highlights the layered, historically rooted design of our Historic Hill House kitchen — a space shaped by early 20th-century details, modern function, and a palette of deep green cabinetry, Arabescato marble, and warm white oak.

A kitchen shaped by early 20th-century details and lived-in ease — at home in its history, ready for how we live today.

Anchored by a sculptural fluted marble surround at the range and softened by botanical wallpaper and porcelain lighting, the kitchen pairs architectural presence with lived-in ease. The home’s 11-foot ceilings informed the room’s verticality — from the tall cabinetry to the custom library ladder and brass rails, which bring both function and a sense of expression to the space. Original trimwork and inherited proportions guide the composition, allowing the kitchen to feel at home in its 1910 architecture while supporting the way we live today.

MAKE IT STAND OUT

The fluted marble surround becomes the room’s anchor — a vertical gesture that shapes the entire kitchen.

It is the defining architectural move that plays up the room’s height and exudes character.

A complementary butler’s pantry continues the material story in a softer, mushroom-toned palette, with repeated materials and hardware that create a seamless connection between the two rooms. Together, the spaces form a warm and highly functional backbone to daily life — practical, expressive, and personal.

We’re honored to see this project recognized among the year’s standout kitchens and grateful for the acknowledgment of the care and craft behind it.
